I have always had an interest in deities from around the world, and the artworks devoted to their depiction. With change of religions, many countries deface or destroy their traditional deity figures, which I think is a great loss to the art world.
The term 'effigy' is mostly used for the makeshift dummies used for symbolic punishment in political protests and for the figures burned in certain traditions around New Year, Carnival and Easter. It seemed apt to me that once celebrated deity's are demoted to these 'gentle effigies' in my interpretation.
