Odin's has a never-ending quest for wisdom in Norse mythology. One of his searches led him to Mimir's well, which was the source of Mimir's knowledge. Odin asked him for a drink from the well, but Mimir's price was one of Odin's eyes. Odin accepted this and Mimir plucked one eye from his head and tossed it in the well.
